Kelly Greenhalgh is a Melbourne based artist working predominantly in ceramics. In creating both sculptural and functional works, Greenhalgh seeks to explore her experiences in nature and her social environment. Working primarily in stoneware ceramic, Greenhalgh investigates her concepts through surface decoration and texture, utilising a multitude of techniques to achieve varying outcomes.
This series of vessels was moulded from a glass replica of a ceramic tumbler designed by Japanese artist and designer Makoto Komatsu. Komatsu has been working on his ‘crinkle’ series of works since the early 1970’s and continued to add to this series as recently as 2009.
